You know what, I was reading something a friend of mine wrote on her blog, and it triggered a lot of thoughts. She’s afraid of bats. I was then instantly reminded of my grandmother, who’s afraid of butterflies. Yes, butterflies. Those generally thought beautiful, delicate beings. And yes, I can imagine some people might think I’m making this up, but it’s an ~actual~ phobia called lepidopterophobia, look it up. And I don’t think I need to explain how a phobia works - you can’t just shake it off.
Well, the point I’m trying to make is: no matter how beautiful you think something is, there’s always going to be someone who fears it, or feels uncomfortable looking at it. I’m not talking about dislikes or mild discomfort here, but there’s no reason why taste shouldn’t be respected around Tumblr. Anyway, I can’t stress enough that you should tag your stuff. No matter what it is, no matter what type of blog you run. It doesn’t need to be a nearly obsessive tag system; a simple general topic association will do.
So please, please, PLEASE, TAG YOUR STUFF. There are as many phobias as there are things to be afraid of in the world.
Please reblog this post, too.
